Hello, my name is Kajal Rolfe, and I am the artist behind Archivals by KR. Thank you for visiting my website and for taking an interest in my creative journey.

My passion for art began during my GCSE Art studies in 1996, where I was proud to achieve a Grade A. Unfortunately, none of the work from that period remains in my possession, as my art teacher kept the pieces, leaving me without a visual record of where this journey first began.

​​​

When asked to describe my work, I often say, "to understand me and my artwork is to understand the journey I have travelled and continue to travel on." This sentiment lies at the heart of my creative practice and becomes increasingly evident as my collection evolves, reflecting both the darkest and most transformative periods of my life.

 

Between the 'Unknown Lady' pencil drawing piece and 'Tear Drops' using Microsoft Paint, lies a fifteen-year absence from creating. Yet, during those years, I underwent profound personal growth, healing, and transformation. The lessons I learned continue to shape not only who I am, but also the artwork I create today. Through art, I am now able to share those experiences, give voice to my journey, and connect with others in a meaningful way.

My faith has played a significant role in my journey, and I give thanks to Jehovah God through His most precious Son, Jesus Christ. His mercy and grace have sustained me through life's challenges, and divine influence can also be seen throughout my collection.

I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to those who have directly and 'indirectly' encouraged and supported me along the way; my soulmate and husband Steven Rolfe, my beloved father Dinesh Lalji Mandalia for his unwavering love and encouragement, and my musical idol Mariah Carey, whose music provided comfort and strength during some of life's most difficult moments. As a proud #LambForLife, meeting her in person in 2003 remains a cherished memory.

Most importantly, I dedicate this journey to my beautiful mother and former artist Alka Dinesh Mandalia whom I call my hero, my inspiration, muse and a true artist. Her creativity, strength, and spirit continue to inspire everything I do. Her artistic legacy lives on through my work, and I am honoured to continue what she started.

For a period of my life, I felt I had lost my voice. Today, my art is my voice, and through it, I hope to share my story with the world.
